Cyclone Dana: Government Deploys Senior IAS Officers for Relief Operations On Districts

The Odisha government has appointed six senior IAS officers to oversee the rescue and relief efforts in various districts as Cyclone DANA approaches. According to the latest order, the following IAS officers have been assigned:

  • K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, Director of Minor Minerals, has been assigned to Balasore.
  • Trilochan Majhi, Additional Secretary of Revenue & Disaster Management, has been sent to Bhadrak.
  • Balwant Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Tourism Department, has been deployed to Puri.
  • Vineet Bhardwaj, Director and Additional Secretary of Drinking Water and Sanitation, will oversee operations in Mayurbhanj.
  • Yamini Sarangi, SPD, OAVS (Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan), will be in charge of Jagatsinghpur.
  • Samarth Verma, Director of Tourism, has been assigned to Kendrapara.

These officers will coordinate disaster preparedness, rescue operations, and relief distribution as Cyclone DANA is expected to make landfall with wind speeds of 100-110 km/hour, impacting coastal districts.

This move ensures that local administrations are equipped and supported to minimize the effects of the cyclone.
