India delivered an outstanding performance in the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh, winning the match by a commanding 133 runs and sealing the series with a 3-0 clean sweep. This victory, played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 12, 2024, showcased India’s dominance in the T20 format.
Sanju Samson’s Record-Breaking Century
Sanju Samson stole the spotlight with a blistering maiden T20I century, scoring 111 off just 47 balls. He smashed 11 fours and 8 sixes in an innings that completely overwhelmed the Bangladesh bowlers. His century came off just 40 balls, making it the second-fastest by an Indian in T20I history. Samson was particularly aggressive, hammering five sixes in a single over against Rishad Hossain. This performance marked Samson’s resurgence after a period of low scores.
Suryakumar and Samson’s Massive Partnership
Alongside Samson, captain Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial role, scoring 75 from just 35 balls. Together, they built a 173-run partnership in just 70 balls, which laid the foundation for India’s massive total of 297/6, the highest by a Test-playing nation in T20I cricket. This score also marked India’s highest-ever total in T20 internationals, breaking their previous record of 260/5 set against Sri Lanka in 2017.
Bangladesh’s Struggles
In response, Bangladesh never looked comfortable chasing such a huge target. Despite a valiant effort by opener Tamim Iqbal, who had aimed for a target of 200, Bangladesh managed to score only 164/8 in their 20 overs. India’s bowlers, led by Hardik Pandya, ensured that Bangladesh had no chance of making a comeback.
With this victory, India continued their dominant form at home and achieved their 10th clean sweep in T20I series cricket, reinforcing their place as one of the top teams in the format.
Looking Ahead
India’s next match will be against New Zealand in a much-anticipated T20I series. Fans will be eager to see if the Indian team can maintain its winning momentum and whether players like Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav can continue their stellar performances.
